Element: Develop workplace environment and sustainability policy
  • Identify legislative, regulatory and industry requirements relating to environmental sustainability
  • Define scope of environment and sustainability policy
  • Gather information from a range of sources to plan and develop policy
  • Identify and consult with stakeholders as a key component of the policy development process
  • Include appropriate strategies in policy at all stages of work for minimising resource use and employing life cycle management approaches
  • Identify and incorporate strategies to reduce hazardous material use where applicable
  • Make recommendations for policy options based on likely effectiveness, timeframes and cost
  • Develop policy that reflects the organisation's commitment to environment and sustainability work practices

Assessment Tasks

Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
